GLAAD Spanish-Language Media Award Presented by Sofia Vergara and Benjamin Bratt
The 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards were held this past Saturday, April 17 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, and Spanish-Language media was well-represented.
Among the four competitive awards given onstage was the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Spanish-Language TV Journalism Segment. Modern Family's Sofía Vergara and Benjamin Bratt presented the award to Noticiero Telemundo for the segment, “Polémicas adopciones.” The award was accepted by Ramón Escobar, Executive Vice President of News for Telemundo; producer Elisa Ross and reporter Carlos Botifoll.
The other nominees in that category were:
"Afrontando la realidad" Noticias Univision (KTVW-TV 33 [Phoenix, Ariz.])
"Asamblea aprueba por mayoría el matrimonio gay" Mega News (MegaTV)
"Mujer transgénera dice haber sido discriminada" Noticiero 34 (Univision)
"Polémicas adopciones" Noticiero Telemundo (Telemundo)
"Vigilia por Jorge Steven" Noticiero 52 (Telemundo)
Additional awards will be presented in San Francisco on June 5. The seven other winners in Spanish-Language Media categories were presented at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York March 13

La Vigésima Primera Edición de los Premios GLAAD se llevaron a cabo el sábado pasado, el 17 de abril, en el hotel Hyatt Regency Century Plaza en Los Ángeles y los medios de comunicación en español fueron bien representados.
Entre los cuatro premios competitivos presentados esa noche estuvo el premio para Mejor Segmento de Noticias en Medios en Español. Sofia Vergara de Modern Family y Benjamin Bratt le presentaron el premio a Noticiero Telemundo (Telemundo) por un segmento titulado "Polémicas Adopciones." El premio fue aceptado por Ramón Escobar, vicepresidente ejecutivo de Telemundo, productora Elisa Ross y reportero Carlos Botifoll.
