What to Watch: This Weekend

LGBT-inclusive television this weekend varies far and wide, so let's just highlight the gayest of the gay: The Graham Norton Show on Saturday, Any Dream Will Do on Sunday (both on BBC America) and don't forget the season finale of The United States of Tara on Showtime, a series whose gay son is anything but typical. FRIDAY > 10:00 PM Real Time with Bill Maher, HBO (1 hr) NEW This no-holds barred news show is broadcast live, so you never know what to expect. Bill regularly discusses LGBT issues and features gay panelists and commentators, so check it out! SATURDAY > 9:00 PM Color Splash, HGTV (30 min) NEW Gay interior designer David Bromstad reworks living spaces. Tonight he reorganizes a den so that it has more room, and gives it a Southwestern feel.

This is a teen heartthrob

> 10:00 PM The Graham Norton Show, BBC America (1 hr) NEW Openly gay talk show host Graham Norton hosts teen heartthrob Zac Efron, Little Britain star David Williams, with musical guest Pet Shop Boys. (Could this show get gayer? I’m just saying…) SUNDAY > 8:00 PM Kings, NBC (1 hr) NEW King Silas’ gay son Jack faces a difficult decision when his uncle William tries to convince him to go against his father’s wishes. > 8:00 PM The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, HBO (1 hr) NEW Precious is Botswana’s first female private investigator. She has a gay hairdresser named BK who acts as a crucial means of emotional support. > 8:00 PM Any Dream Will Do, BBC America (1 hr) NEW Contestants compete for the lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in a production on London’s West End. One of the judges is openly gay actor/singer John Barrowman, with host Graham Norton. Tonight, the 12 finalists sing for the public for the first time. > 8:00 PM The Amazing Race 14, CBS (1 hr) NEW Oh no! The father/son duo of gay activist Mel White and his bi son Mike White finished last place last week! Luckily, gay contestant Luke finished fourth with his mom, so the gays are still in it to win it. > 8:00 PM Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, ABC (1 hr) REPEAT In this repeat from November, the team helps a family rebuild their lives after their patriarch has passed away. Gay designer Michael Moloney lends a hand. > 9:00 PM Desperate Housewives, ABC (1 hr) REPEAT If you missed the episode where Mrs. McCluskey takes a bat to Dave, it’s absolutely worth watching. Gay Wysteria Lane residents Bob, Lee and Andrew all make appearances tonight, to boot!

> 10:00 PM Brothers & Sisters, ABC (1 hr) REPEAT Go back to a simpler time, when Tommy hadn’t embezzled money, and everyone’s biggest concern was discovering the identity of the lost Walker sibling. (Ed. note: In this hour, Kevin and Scotty are still newlyweds and it’s awfully sweet.) > 10:00 PM The United States of Tara, Showtime (30 min) SEASON FINALE Poor Marshall fell for a bi-curious Bible boy who ultimately ditched him for a girl – Marshall’s mom. Who can blame the child for wanting to take pain pills?
