Alaska's been out of the spotlight for our community since Sarah Palin announced she has "gay friends," but today -  in what many may see as a surprising move - we hear that Anchorage mayor and Senator-elect Mark Begich opposes amending the Constitution to ban marriage for gay couples. Begich also told the New York Times that he supports allowing same-sex couples to receive "benefits through their partners."
