San Francisco's health access program, Healthy SF, will remove exclusions that deny medically necessary transition-related care to transgender people.

Today our thoughts are with CeCe McDonald, who faced sentencing in Minneapolis at the Hennepin County Government Center this afternoon.

“This is a historic day for human rights in the United States…starting today transgender and gender non-conforming people now have legal recourse if they face discrimination on the job," said Masen Davis, executive director of the Transgender Law Center (TLC). "We no longer have to be silent when we are fired or not hired simply for being who we are.”

ABC's new show about straight men dressing as women to get jobs comes during a period in which the transgender community now routinely finds itself in the cultural crosshairs, the timing couldn’t be worse for a show based on the notion that men dressed as women is inherently funny. In fact, shows like this have the power to put the transgender community in an even more dangerous position.
