Reconciling Ministries Network

This week is Transgender Awareness Week and to mark the occasion, GLAAD’s Religion, Faith, and Values Program wants to highlight the achievements of a few trans faith leaders who have helped make their traditions more open and welcoming spaces for all people.

In preparation for the United Methodist General Conference 2012, which will take place April 24 through May 4 in Tampa, Florida, the Common Witness Coalition has released For Love of God and Neighbor: A Common Witness to General Conference 2012, a statement of inclusiveness that recognizes the intersections between equality for LGBT people and issues of “race, gender, global partnerships, peace, stewardship of creation and economic justice.”

The last Sunday of January has been designated annually as Welcoming Church Sunday, a day on which congregations—across denominations--celebrate and reaffirm their support for the full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the life of the church.
