UK trans woman calls for government to no longer retain information about her assigned sex at birth

A trans woman, C, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, in the Greater London area is fighting a case requesting that the Government remove details on her previous life, including her old name. Her case rests on the claim that her gender reassignment surgery is a private matter and "wholly irrelevant" to her ability to find work.

New voter ID laws could prevent more than 25,000 transgender citizens from voting, according to the Williams Institute at UCLA. The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) has released “Voting While Trans” resources in order to educate trans voters on what they can do to successfully cast their ballots, particularly during what advocate Laverne Cox says is “a critical election season.”
