Over 30 clergy across New York City will be preaching about homeless LGBT youth in their houses of worship this weekend, January 20-22. The preaching exercise is a part of the Weekend of Prayer and Learning to educate people of faith about youth homelessness, particularly among LGBT youth.
Fifty Christian clergy and lay leaders in Anchorage, Alaska, announced the formation of Christians for Equality. Christians for Equality was formed around the ongoing work to pass a non-discrimination ordinance that protects lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in hiring, housing and education.
GLAAD’s Director of Religion, Faith & Values, Ross Murray, published an essay in CNN’s Belief Blog about Christians’ increasing acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The essay, entitled “My Take: Why Christians are embracing their LGBT neighbors,” demonstrates the changes in both hearts and minds, as well as denominational policies, the increasing welcome, acceptance, and advocacy for and with LGBT people.
