As Spirit Day approaches, the number of faith leaders and organizations going purple is growing. Organizations are reaching out to their members to encourage them to wear purple. Religious leaders of all stripes are speaking out against bullying in the lead up to Spirit Day.
In the wake of Tuesday’s Ninth Circuit Court decision affirming the ruling that Prop 8 was in violation of the federal constitution, a number of religious and faith groups issued statements in support of the decision.
People of faith and communities of faith are getting into the spirit of Spirit Day. Many faith-based organizations have promoted Spirit Day commemorations for today, October 20, as well as into this weekend. The following is just a sampling of what Christians and Christian organizations are doing to mark Spirit Day.
