The nominations for the 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards were announced this week and the nominees include several LGBT-inclusive series and out characters.

In recognition of Transgender Awareness week, GLAAD and The Advocate.com present some of the most groundbreaking representations of transgender people that have raised awareness of the community in mainstream audiences.

Nominations for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards were announced yesterday and voting is now open to decide the winners. Glee scored big in TV with a leading five nominations between the series and cast and Modern Family followed closely behind with four nods. Of the five actors nominated for Favorite Comedic TV Actor, four are openly gay. A wide range of LGBT-inclusive programs also picked up nominations.

Voting is closing soon for the 2012 Do Something Awards and several LGBT stars, allies and inclusive television series are nominated for their charitable works and roles in raising awareness.

This morning the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced its 2012 Primetime Emmys nominees and included several nods for inclusive series and characters, as well as out LGBT actors.

Following a second week of performances, openly lesbian tennis legend Martina Navratilova became the first contestant eliminated from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
