Scout Council denounces anti-gay ban after 81% of members call for equality

The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council of the Boy Scouts of America is urging the organization to adopt a non-discrimination policy that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation after first rejecting a gay Scout's Eagle award application in 2012. The Council becomes the first in the nation to publicly urge the BSA to end its ban on gay members.

Recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen, who withdrew as headliner of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree following a campaign launched by GLAAD and Eagle Scout Derek Nance, today spoke with MTV News about her decision to drop out of the concert. Bill Gates recounts his time as a Boy Scout but urges the organization to end it's anti-gay ban "because it's 2013."
