Mitt Romney Stands by 1994 Statement Supporting the End to the Boy Scouts' Ban on Gay Americans

GLAAD was first to release video footage from 1994 of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying: "I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation." According to an Associated Press article that ran today, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul confirmed that “this remains Romney’s position today.”

Yesterday Chuck Norris, the 72-year-old former star of "Walker, Texas Ranger," wrote an anti-gay post criticizing James Turley, a member of the Boy Scouts of America's governing board and CEO of Ernst & Young, who has vowed to "work from within" to change the organization's policy of excluding gay scouts and scout leaders.

CNBC has a great story on how the CEOS of AT&T and the accounting firm Ernst & Young have taken public stances in support equality for people in the LGBT community in recent months. James S. Turley, CEO and Chairman of the latter business, has promised to work with the Boy Scouts of America, as a current board member, to repeal their anti-inclusive policies against LGBT participants.
