Arizona State Representative Kyrsten Sinema will become the first bisexual federal lawmaker in the nation's history. Sinema has expanded her lead in her race for the U.S. Congress to the point where it will be insurmountable for her opponent, Vernon Parker, reports Associated Press.

Stereotypes about bisexuality are both unfounded and quite literally unhealthy, according to studies recently published in the Journal of Bisexuality. The studies show that the bisexual community is diverse and subject to discrimination from gay and straight people alike, which negatively impacts the health and social lives of people who identify as bisexual.

GLAAD looks at harmful and inaccurate assumptions about bisexual people, and separates the myths from the facts in order to raise more awareness on "Celebrate Bisexuality Day."
