In October of 2005 GLSEN held it's first Ally Week to celebrate Allies committed to ensuring safe and effective schools for all and to encourage students to take action. Eight years later, Ally Week continues to gain the support of both LGBT and straight student allies.
GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) is going purple on October 17 for Spirit Day to stand against bullying and show support for LGBT youth, just before the start of Ally Week.
Ally Week starts today! Join GLSEN and students nationwide and become an ally for LGBT youth!
The importance of GLSEN's Ally Week is that it gives those of us who work within the movement for LGBT equality a chance to acknowledge and recognize the crucial work of straight allies in our efforts.
