This Friday, March 30, LGBT advocate and ally Marsha Aizumi will be speaking at "Asian American Parents Who Love Their Queer Kids," an event being held at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York City.
Celebrities, both LGBT-identified and not, have been rightly called out for using slurs or terms that perpetuate dangerous stereotypes about LGBT people. And while some have defended this usage, claiming that words such as "F*g" or "tra**y" do not spur hate and harm, a new study is proving otherwise.
In September, GLAAD spoke with Marsha Aizumi regarding her upcoming memoir "Two Spirits, One Heart," which explores her journey to embracing her transgender son, Aiden. Recently, GLAAD caught up with Marsha and Aiden, discussing their respective work in advocacy and their experience as a family that has grown closer together through change.
