This past Thursday, we celebrated the fifth annual Spirit Day, and had a great number of schools and gay-straight alliances (GSAs) across the country participate. The effort went international, as well, and the day was used to educate, stand in solidarity, spread awareness, and celebrate.
Viacom and its channels, including MTV, Logo TV, VH1, TV Land, BET, Tr3s, Comedy Central, and CMT, thoroughly rocked purple on air and off for LGBT youth in a strong stand against bullying for GLAAD's Spirit Day yesterday.
Segments, photos and messages for #spiritday from Univision, Maria Elena Salinas, Enrique Santos and Despierta America among others shared important information about the impact of bullying on LGBT people.
Most of the cast of Telemundo's morning show "Un Nuevo Día" wore purple on Spirit Day, from hosts Adamari López, Rashel Díaz and Daniel Sarcos to Noticiero Telemundo correspondents like Lori Montenegro. They also did a great segment on bullying. Many also shared their Spirit Day purple on social media.
