    Every young person deserves to feel safe and celebrated for who they are. Yet for many LGBTQ youth, today’s world presents new and difficult challenges, from bullying in school hallways to their stories being silenced online.
     
    This is our chance to turn the tide. A visible act of support can send a powerful message of hope and acceptance. This Spirit Day, pledge to go purple on October 16th to show LGBTQ youth that we have their back.

    how to participate

    1. go purple – Join us in wearing purple on Spirit Day, Thursday, October 16. Post a photo on social media, tagging @glaad with #SpiritDay, to collectively stand against bullying and show solidarity with LGBTQ youth.

    2. share the pledge – Share the Spirit Day pledge with friends and family. This pledge only takes a minute, but if we all join in, we can create real, lasting change.

    3. support GLAADBecome a GLAAD member and join in the fight to end bullying and hate in all it forms. From the latest GLAAD Research to ways you can get involved in your own community, be part of the only movement focused on rewriting the script for LGBTQ acceptance.
