GLAAD National Board of Directors Announce John F. Stephens as New Co-Chair

New York, NY, April 17, 2012 – The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, today announced John F. Stephens as Co-Chair of its National Board of Directors. Stephens will also continue in his role as Treasurer.

Stephens is a partner at Sedgwick LLP based in the firm's Los Angeles office. He focuses his practice on media and entertainment litigation, intellectual property licensing and transactions, entertainment accounting and royalty issues and specialty insurance coverage and litigation. Stephens handles matters for a diverse client base, including entertainment and media entities, publishers, television and radio stations, production companies, entertainment technology companies, computer technologies, online content and software providers.  Additionally, Stephens represents clients in the manufacturing, financial, and insurance industries.

Stephens is also an active member of the American Bar Association, where he is currently the Chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Diversity Committee.  He was former Chair of the ABA TIPS Committee on Intellectual Property.  Stephens continues to be actively involved in Sedgwick’s internal committees, including chair of the Los Angeles Diversity Committee and E-Discovery Committee.   Stephens received his B.S. in Accounting with highest honors from Rutgers University in 1990 and his J.D. with high honors at Rutgers University Law School in 1995.
