In the wake of the recent youth suicides caused by anti-gay bullying, GLAAD extends our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the young men who took their lives, while urging the nation's media to investigate the anti-gay climate that contributes to putting young people in harm's way.

Victims or Villains: Examining Ten Years of Transgender Images on Television

In recognition of Transgender Awareness Week and the Transgender Day of Remembrance, GLAAD has reviewed its archives of transgender-inclusive television episodes over the past ten years, and found that a great deal of progress still needs to be made for fair and accurate depictions of the transgender community.

The following guidelines will help you ensure that transgender victims of violent crimes are always treated respectfully and fairly. These guidelines apply to all stories that involve the transgender community, but are especially important when the person has been attacked or killed.

Transgender Day of Remembrance Resource Kit for Individuals

On November 12 - 20, individuals and organizations around the county will participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and address the issues these communities face. The final day of Transgender Awareness Week is the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
