Program Details

MediaActivism 90 Minutes

MediaActivism will give you the tools to monitor representations of LGBT people in your local media, respond effectively to poor coverage and proactively work to prevent defamation in your community.

MediaAdvocacy for People of Color 90 Minutes

MediaAdvocacy for People of Color addresses the topics covered in our general MediaActivism training specifically in regards to media representations of LGBT people of color, including representations within ethnic media as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender media.

MediaEssentials 4-6 Hours

MediaEssentials is our core training, designed to give you a thorough introduction to the skills you need to effectively work with the media. Part 1, MediaBasics, works through the most basic media skills, including developing a media message, writing effective press releases & introductory letters, and creating press packets. Part 2, MediaPresence, focuses on interview skills, preparing you for the toughest questions. You'll learn to create an effective sound bite and to avoid some of the most common interview mistakes.

MediaBasics and MediaPresence are available as separate 90 minute trainings.
