Shawn Jain resides in Washington, D.C., where he most recently worked as media relations coordinator for the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012), which took place in D.C. at the end of July. The Conference returned to the U.S. for the first time in 22 years and welcomed more than 24,000 attendees (including nearly 2,000 journalists) from 183 countries.
Prior to working on the Conference, Shawn worked at a strategic communications firm in New York City specializing in public health. He also served on the board of the South Asian Lesbian and Gay Association of New York City, or SALGA, a volunteer-run organization that serves the region's queer desi community. Shawn was born and raised in California and is a graduate of UC Berkeley.
