NEW YORK, NY – GLAAD, the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, today responded to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's veto of Senate Bill 1062, which would have given license to Arizona businesses to blatantly discriminate against LGBT people.
NEW YORK, NY – Sarah Kate Ellis, CEO and President of GLAAD – the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization – today denounced proposed legislation that would give license to Arizona's business owners to blatantly discriminate against LGBT people.
"Being anti-LGBT is bad for business," Ellis told CNN's Carol Costello today. "Apple, Marriott, American Airlines – over 80 corporations have spoken out and urged [Arizona] Governor [Jan] Brewer to veto this bill."

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Facebook announced a custom gender option with additional privacy settings for transgender people. The new feature, which GLAAD helped develop, enables users to select a custom gender option, indicate preferred pronouns and adjust privacy settings for the custom gender field. It will be available to those who use Facebook in U.S. English.
