Katina Parker is the People of Color (POC) Media Manager for Communities of African Descent. Her responsibilities include maintaining GLAAD's valuable relationships with African American lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations, activists and press outlets. Through GLAAD she is working to organize and further empower African American LGBT organizations and activists to mount positive visibility campaigns as well as impactful responses to imbalanced representations of the LGBT presence in and contributions to African American communities.
Prior to joining GLAAD, Parker received her MFA in film production from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from Wake Forest University. Post-grad, she worked in Los Angeles and New York as a visual artist/writer for a number of socially relevant artists/musicians/agencies.
