POC Media Program Note: This episode touches on the complex issues one faces when confronting gender identity issues. It presents the personal stories of two young African Americans. Damien began cross-dressing and identifies as a transgender woman. Damien's friend is in transition, undergoing hormone therapy. The piece also includes comments from Damien's counselor. This "True Life" episode deserves a nod because it made an effort to educate viewers about gender identity, and because it presented the stories of two young persons of color.
