A large majority of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender middle and high schools students in New York say they are called names. A survey by the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network released Thursday found 90 percent of students regularly heard homophobic remarks. The biennial survey conducted in 2011 also reported that 29 percent of LGBT students were physically harassed because of their sexual orientation.
