The San Antonio City Council voted 8-3 Thursday to pass a citywide ordinance barring discrimination against LGBT people in employment, housing and public accommodations. Prior to the vote, the council removed language opposed by the LGBT community related to transgender restroom use.

San Antonio joins other major cities in Texas including Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin in protecting its LGBT citizens with such an ordinance.
