Salem College weighs future of transgender student

A Salem College student who is completing surgery to transition from a woman to a man is asking to stay on the campus of the all-female school. The Winston-Salem Journal reported that college spokeswoman Michelle Melton declined to identify the student, who wants to remain on campus after having surgery in February. Salem College has some male students, but the school's website says only female students are allowed to live on campus.
