Poland Recognizes Tenancy For Lesbian and Gay Couples

Poland’s Supreme Court Wednesday recognized the right of gay partnerships to succeed to tenancies in this country where legislators have for years stonewalled attempts to introduce civil unions for lesbian and gay couples. The court issued an interpretation of an article of Poland’s Civil Code, which states that the surviving partner in a marriage or union assumes the rights of a tenant in a leased apartment.
