House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi joined hundreds of volunteers Saturday morning at the National AIDS Memorial Grove in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park where she was honored for her work on the issue of HIV/AIDS. The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus welcomed Pelosi to the AIDS Memorial Grove’s first workday of the 2012 planting season. Grove Executive Director John Cunningham said with this month marking the 25th anniversary of Pelosi’s first run for Congress, they wanted to recognize her as a national champion in the fight against the epidemic.
