Outsports.com, which covers the gay athletes, bought by SB Nation parent company Vox Media

It wasn’t too long ago that locker rooms were among the most homophobic places in America. Now many professional athletes are vocal supporters of marriage equality and other issues that face the gay community. Those changes have been documented – and pushed – by Outsports, the pioneering website that covers the nexus of gays and sports. Outsports founders Jim Buzinski and Cyd Zeigler announced on Tuesday that Vox Media, the people behind SBNation, have acquired the site. A statement from Buzinski and Zeigler posted on Outsports on Tuesday says the acquisition marks the first time a mainstream sports media company has purchased a gay-oriented website.
