NYC Gay Bar Julius' Temporarily Closed

Julius', which claims it is the oldest gay bar in New York City, was recently ordered closed by the Department of Health. The bar's owner, Helen Buford, said she hoped to re-open after another inspection on Wednesday or later in the week. The Times examines some of the history of the bar.
