Aisha and Danielle Moodie-Mills broke many barriers by being the first African-American lesbian couple to have their wedding ceremony featured by Essence magazine. Now on Valentine's Day The Root an online news site which deals primarily with African-American issues is recognizing the pair as a Power couple in their Valentine's Day feature titled "The Next Obamas? Black, Power, in Love.
Aisha and Danielle Moodie-Mills' wedding was the first lesbian wedding to be featured by Essence Magazine, for which Essence won a GLAAD Media Award.
