More than two dozen business executives have sent a letter urging state leaders to legalize gay marriage this session.

The two-page letter, addressed to Gov. Mark Dayton, House Speaker Paul Thissen and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, lays out the business case for allowing full marriage rights for gays and lesbians.

"Supporting the freedom to marry is the right thing to do. It also is smart business," says the letter, which is signed by 26 business leaders including Carlson Cos. Chairwoman Marilyn Carlson Nelson, who has testified at the Capitol in support of gay marriage as a way to attract and retain talented workers.
