A Virginia man accused of shooting a security guard at a conservative lobbying group because he didn’t like the group’s politics is due in court for a preliminary hearing. Twenty-eight-year-old Floyd Lee Corkins faces an assault charge and handgun charges that carry the possibility of decades in prison. He’s due in court Friday. A judge has also ruled that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he’s competent to understand the court proceedings.
