Larry Kramer and William David Webster were married on Wednesday in New York. Eve M. Preminger, a retired Surrogate Court judge in New York, officiated at NYU Langone Medical Center, where Mr. Kramer was recovering from surgery.
Mr. Kramer, 78, is an author and a founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis and the protest group Act Up, in New York. His autobiographical play, “The Normal Heart,” about the early days of the AIDS crisis, opened at the Public Theater in 1985 and was revived on Broadway in 2011. He wrote the screenplay for the 1969 film “Women in Love,” of which he was also a producer, and for the movie version of “The Normal Heart,” which is now in production. Mr. Kramer graduated from Yale, where a program in gay and lesbian studies is named for him.
