Issues:

Pop star Katy Perry, preparing for the release of her new song “Roar”, delivered a roar of her own to Australian opposition leader Tony Abbott. According to AFP on August 14, Perry confronted Abbott about his stance on gay marriage.

Perry has many fans across the world, including Abbott’s three daughters. So when Abbott called in to Sydney’s 2DayFM radio station where Perry was a guest, he was surprised when Perry turned his question about her return to Australia political, in particular, the pop star wanted to discuss gay marriage and his stance on the issue.

“Oh come on, that’s not a political question. Let’s talk about gay marriage.”

Perry then urged voters in Australia to speak out against the policies of Abbott’s conservative coalition.
