High School Student Shot in Chicago

A Chicago high school student was shot and killed during an attempted robbery Friday afternoon as he left his school in the Southeast Side's Jeffery Manor neighborhood, police said. The victim was Terrance Wright, 18, of the 5000 block of South Carpenter Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. A senior at Banner Academy South in the 2300 block of East 99th Street, Wright was approached by five would-be robbers about 3:40 p.m., police said. One assailant went through the pockets of the victim, who fought back and was shot in the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
