History Making Argentine Trans Woman Murdered

Sad news coming out of Argentina.   

32 year old Laura Aguilar, one of the first people to obtain a gender ID change under the Argentine Gender Identity Law in Tierra del Fuego province, was killed in the city of Rio Grande. 

She was fatally stabbed May 12 in the home of her former partner Carlos Humbeto Traberg in what appears to be a relationship quarrel that went horribly wrong.

Md. high court permits divorce for same-sex couples

Maryland’s highest court ruled Friday that same-sex couples can divorce in the state even though Maryland does not yet permit marriages for same-sex couples.

The Court of Appeals ruled 7-0 that couples who have a valid marriage from another state can divorce in Maryland. The case involved two women who were married in California and denied a divorce in 2010 by a Maryland judge.

South American Singer Andres Cuervo Wants to Raise Awareness

Singer Andres Cuervo has embraced HIV/AIDS awareness and developed a campaign to fight the disease by motivating folks to get tested. His foundation, “Saber Amar” (Know How to Love) promotes awareness and raises funds for organizations already in place across the U.S. Dino Thompson Sarmiento interviewed Cuervo in Atlanta where he will debut the campaign on May 31 at 6 p.m. at the Wimbish House.

Donna Summer, Gay Icon, Dead At 63

Donna Summer, the gay icon and Queen of Disco has died at the age of 63, after a battle with cancer, according to a report at TMZ:

We’re told Summer was in Florida at the time of her death. She was 63 years old.

Sources close to Summer tell us … the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago … who says she didn’t seem too bad.
