Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam (R) this week criticized efforts by state lawmakers to pass a bill that would prevent teachers from mentioning LGBT people. Haslam said, "I’ve said before I don’t think that should be a priority of the legislature. I think there’s other things that we can and should be focused on right now, and I’ve been up front about that from the very beginning.”

A spokeswoman for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne on Tuesday said the office was opening investigation of allegations made by the ex-boyfriend of Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who resigned as co-chairman of former Gov. Mitt Romney's (R-Mass.) presidential campaign after his former boyfriend claimed Babeu threatened to deport him if he publicly discuss their relationship.
