Madonna will use her upcoming performance in Russia to speak out against St. Petersburg’s controversial “gay propaganda” law.
“I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels oppressed,” the Material Girl, 53, told Bloomberg Businessweek in an email yesterday. “I’m a freedom fighter.”
Nearly a year ago, the students at Alpharetta High School elected Reuben Lack to be their student council president.
A month ago, he said, the school administration removed him because of an idea.
Earlier this year, Lack said he proposed changing the structure of the senior prom—eliminating the prom king and prom queen for more gender-neutral titles. He said he pitched it to be more accommodating to gay students at Alpharetta High. But he says the student council never debated it because faculty advisers intervened.
Harvard announced on Wednesday that it would open a campus office for the Army R.O.T.C. later this year, a move the Army believes will lead to greater participation in the program by Harvard undergraduates.
