About the New Media Training Institute (NMTI)
LGBT advocates and organizations will:

  • Explore best practices to utilize digital media and online community-building strategies to enhance their organizations' engagement of constituents, public education and advocacy goals.
  • Work with GLAAD and new media experts from the progressive and political worlds including the New Organizing Institute (NOI) in this interactive day of training.
  • Create plans scaled to their organization's capacity.
  • Learn how to utilize a variety of new media tools to advance programmatic goals.
  • Discuss how social media can expand brand awareness and development opportunities.
  • Discuss tools, strategies, and essentials such as video production and online advertising strategies.
  • Be encouraged to share their success stories and as well as their challenges.

The New Media Training Institute will be useful for a range of experience levels. There will be two tracks:

  • Beginner Track: for those who are new to the using new media in their work.
  • Advanced Track: for those who want to increase the scope, reach, and effectiveness of work already in progress.

Guest presenters will include experts in digital platforms and social media who will provide best practices, case studies, and hands-on technical expertise.

The New Media Training Institute will be held Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the Creating Change Conference at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel in Dallas, TX, from February 3-7, 2010. Pre-registration is required - register now.
