The Donor Services Intern will support GLAAD's Development Department by providing vital administrative support to the Donor Services team with data management and gift processing. The Donor Services Intern will also assist the Associate Director of Donor Services and the Donor Services Manager with management of online gifts, gift processing and data management of new and existing donors as well as managing the ongoing pledge collection mailing project.

The Donor Services Intern will have the opportunity to develop valuable database experience while working in a fun, fast paced and energetic work environment. These skills are very valuable for a student wishing to pursue a career in marketing and fundraising both in a non-profit or business environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage small mail campaigns.
  • Lead administrative position on gift processing from receiving to oversight of the decline letter process.
  • Data analysis and report compilation as well as database maintenance.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support including but not limited to: drafting, editing and proofreading correspondence and proposals; general word processing and spreadsheet support: heavy data entry, mailings, filing, copying, and faxing
  • Follow up daily on member correspondence via email, phone, and postal mail.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Attend regular staff meetings. 

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, acute eye for detail and desire to be a self-starter.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing research and data.
  • Working knowledge of basic math: arithmetic, percents, ratio etc.
  • Ability to use great discretion when necessary.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Confident, professional phone manner for dealing with donors.
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, database work, spreadsheets, email and Internet research.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.
