"A little lemonade can go a long way," and that's exactly what happened when 5 and a half year old Jayden Sink decided to sell her Pink Lemonade for Peace this weekend. Her stand was located in front of the beautifully-painted rainbow Equality House that is located across from the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church.

On Tuesday, the Virginia Board of Juvenile Justice voted 5-1 to continue including specific language which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation in rules governing residential facilities. This marks the third time in a year and a half that the Board has reaffirmed protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth, protections that have been in existence since 2005.

I have been fighting for the full inclusion of LGBTQ voices in immigration reform since 2008 along side many powerful undocuqueer people. We have gone a long way and we still have much to accomplish so our movements can be united. Needless to say, for us in GetEQUAL, immigration reform is needed and it is a moral imperative for our country. This legislative battle has become a focal point in our organizing because of the lived experience of some of our leaders, including myself.
