California transgender student has to quit basketball team, but keeps passion for the sport

Tony Bias, a transgender male who is currently a sophomore at River City High School in Sacramento, California is learning what it's like to be a transgender high school athlete. Tony once had high hopes of playing professional basketball but after coming out as transgender and becoming the victim of bullying by fellow schoolmates, Tony stopped playing basketball and now just shoots around alone in the gym during his free time.

Gay Adoption Bill Set To Be Reintroduced With Bipartisan Support

A bill legalizing adoption and foster parenting by same-sex couples is set to be reintroduced on Tuesday, with supporters hopeful that momentum around the Supreme Court's oral arguments on marriage equality and recent pro-LGBT comments from Republican lawmakers will give their legislation a boost.

Religion beyond the right: Boy Scouts and policy change

As the Boy Scouts of America reassesses its ban on gay scouts and leaders, we’re hearing a lot about the organization’s need to remain sensitive to people whose religions condemn homosexual behavior. Their morals must be properly respected, their God aptly revered.

But what about the morals and the God of people whose religions exhort them to be inclusive and to treat gays and lesbians with the same dignity as anyone else? There are many Americans in this camp, and their opposition to the Scouts’ ban is as faith-based as the stance of those who want it maintained.
