The mother of a transgender student at George Fox University, a conservative Christian college in Oregon, has started an online petition calling for the school to reverse its decision to ban her son from residing in an all-male dorm on campus.
"It's just not normal and then you glorify, or it seems to me, that the promotion at USC Upstate is a glorification of same-sex orientation. That's not an explanation of 'I was born this way.' That's recruiting," said South Carolina state Senator Mike Fair (R), commenting on a segment of University of South Carolina Upstate's upcoming LGBT symposium. The one-woman show, satirically titled "How to Become a Lesbian in 10 days or Less," has been cancelled.

36 employers in Oregon filed a legal brief with the US District Court earlier this week urging the court to end the state's ban on marriage equality. Nike, Northwest Natural, Columbia Sportswear, Standard Insurance Company, and PGE are among those, all based in Oregon, who filed the amicus brief.
