Catholic School Teacher Outed in Mother's Obituary and Fired. Students Rally Support.

Carla Hale was fired from her job as a physical education teacher at Bishop Watterson High School, a private Catholic school in Columbus, Ohio for being gay. Students have rallied around Carla. Jackson Garrity, a senior at Bishop Watterson organized a Change.org petition, asking to have Carla reinstated as a teacher at the school.

Texas Democrats Try To Repeal Anti-Gay Law

Democratic lawmaker is proposing that Texas repeal an anti-gay law overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003. El Paso Sen. Jose Rodriguez is expected to lay out his measure before the Senate Criminal Justice Committee on Wednesday.

Gay therapy is not just sticks and stones

Initially I believed a law, by itself, is not the most efficient means of protecting the public from scientifically unproven “treatments.” Simply passing laws might create the erroneous impression that everything that needs to be done has been done and distract from needed efforts to educate oversight bodies. Licensing boards, regulatory agencies and ethics committees of professional organizations are often woefully unfamiliar with the harm caused by conversion therapies.
