With the release of GLAAD's first Studio Responsibility Index last week, we asked you to tell us who your all-time favorite LGBT film characters were. The hundreds of replies we received contained a wide and diverse range of answers which demonstrated two very important points: (a) these film characters make a profound and lasting impact on us, and (b) almost none of them come from movies made by the major Hollywood studios.

First annual Studio Responsibility Index finds lack of substantial LGBT characters in mainstream films
GLAAD released its first annual Studio Responsibility Index (SRI), a report that maps the quantity, quality and diversity of images of LGBT people in films released by six major motion picture studios during the 2012 calendar year. Those studios are 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Columbia, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Brothers.
