Director James Gunn Apologizes for Anti-Gay and Sexist Comments on Blog Post

Following outreach from GLAAD and outrage from LGBT community members, press, and allies on blogs and social media, James Gunn has released a statement of apology regarding a blog post from February of 2011, in which the Guardians of the Galaxy director made anti-gay and sexist comments about characters on a list called “The 50 Superheroes You Most Want to Have Sex With.”

Film Based on 8mm Archives to Explore LGBT/Puerto Rican Family Dynamics in 80s

Filmmaker Cecilia Aldarondo is exploring her family history and finding LGBT people weren't discussed in her family. In her film, Memories of a Penitent Heart, she explores the relationship between her gay uncle, her devoutly Roman Catholic grandmother, Puerto Rican culture, and a world that was waking up to the reality of AIDS.

People's Choice Awards 2013: Gay Performers Sweep Favorite Comedic TV Actor Category

Nominations for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards were announced yesterday and voting is now open to decide the winners. Glee scored big in TV with a leading five nominations between the series and cast and Modern Family followed closely behind with four nods. Of the five actors nominated for Favorite Comedic TV Actor, four are openly gay. A wide range of LGBT-inclusive programs also picked up nominations.
