Many celebrities are getting excited about Spirit Day and already spreading the word. Some have tweeted or changed their profile pictures to purple and many more plan to wear purple in support of LGBT youth tomorrow.
Openly gay celebrity stylist, author, fashion designer, and Emmy winner, Carson Kressley, was among the fan favorites on this season of Dancing with the Stars, but he was unfortunately voted off in this week’s fifth elimination episode. All the same, the positive impact Carson’s presence has made for LGBT visibility in the media should be acknowledged and celebrated.
Spirit Day is tomorrow, and many celebrities are already participating by wearing purple and sending messages of support to LGBT youth. It's not too late to bring awareness of Spirit Day to your favorite celebrity.
The fashion guru was booted off "Dancing With the Stars" on Tuesday night, leaving seven other contestants. It wasn't unexpected, given that the judges of ABC's competition had given him the lowest scores for his 1980s-themed routine a night earlier.
Zachary Quinto came out as a gay man in an interview with New York Magazine and credited marriage equality in New York as well as the struggles faced by LGBT youth as his reasons for speaking out. In the interview and later on his blog, he addressed how he came to the realization that living an authentic life would allow him to be a voice for equality.
