Israel’s Interior Ministry has for the first time recognized two biological fathers of the same baby.
The baby was born to Yuval Topper-Erez, the first Israeli transgender man to get pregnant, and Matan Topper-Erez. Yuval Topper-Erez in December 2011. After Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar and the chairman of the Knesset Interior Committee, Miri Regev, intervened on behalf of the couple, the ministry recognized both men as the child’s biological parents.
The transgender widow of a Wharton County firefighter, whom a judge ruled was not entitled to her late husband’s death benefits because she was assigned male at birth, is challenging Texas law once more by attempting to get married again.
NEW YORK (WABC) -- 60-year-old Marla Krolikowskii, formerly known as Mark, was fired after 32 years in October, 2012 as a teacher at St. Francis Catholic high school in Queens. She claims it was because she declared she is transgender, that the then vice principal called her worse than gay.
"It's terrible. They robbed me of dignity and livelihood I loved," said Krolikowski.
School officials refused to speak to Eyewitness News on Monday.
"She was fired for appropriate non-discriminatory reasons. She was insubordinate," said St. Francis Prep Attorney Phil Semprevivo.
In a case of alleged discrimination, a New York judge has denied the motion of a Catholic school in Queens to dismiss charges brought by former teacher Marla Krolikowskii, who says she was fired after coming out as transgender.
