It’s just another day at Glee’s McKinley High and off-and-on gay supercouple Kurt and Blaine are strolling down the hall, recapping their friends’ holiday hijinks. Kurt’s not in the holiday spirit after losing all of his improbable bids in an Elizabeth Taylor estate jewelry auction, but Blaine reminds him to be thankful for the things they do have. And then Blaine pulls Kurt into a corner to give him a gift: a box containing a ring made out of gum wrappers. Not an engagement ring, but a promise ring.
The new Showtime series Ray Donovan premiered this past Sunday night, and unfortunately started things off with several scenes exploiting transgender people for "shock value" and a cheap laugh. What's worse, anti-trans material is becoming a pattern on Showtime, which is also one of the most LGB-inclusive networks on television.
This year, gay television and internet personality, B. Scott, was hired by BET to host the pre-show for their annual award ceremony which aired last Sunday. Scott's attires often do not conform to expected gender norms. BET's decision to hire B. Scott was a great step forward but unfortunately B. Scott was reportedly asked to make changes to his ensemble.
